The technology
From tumour biology to a measurable signal you can wear.
Breast Guardian rests on a chain of well-established biology: changes in a tumour's energy metabolism and blood supply alter the body-surface thermal field. Our device reads that field, and an AI model interprets it.
The principle behind it
Why a tumour leaves a thermal trace
Two well-documented pathways — plus immune and circadian effects — converge on a single observable: a change in the heat radiating from the body surface.
The Warburg Effect
Otto Warburg · Nobel Prize, 1931
Tumour cells favour glycolysis even in the presence of oxygen, producing lactic acid and localised heat.
Angiogenesis
Judah Folkman · angiogenesis pioneer
Tumours build their own blood supply, altering local blood-flow dynamics and the heat they carry.
Immune & circadian rhythm
Lymph-node activation · PER1/2
Immune-mediated heat and circadian rhythms further shape the body-surface thermal field over time.
How the device reads the field
A sensor array, then an algorithm
Multi-factor sensors
A continuous temperature and humidity time-series, captured much like an ambulatory Holter monitor records the heart.
AI digital biomarker
A machine-learning model — trained against biopsy-correlated clinical data — distinguishes signal from noise.
Interpretable risk report
The output is a plain-language breast-health risk reading delivered through the companion app.
Built on 9 core invention patents, 11 software copyrights, and algorithm support from HKUST under ITF funding.

The wearable
Wear and sleep, we do the rest
A pair of smart sensors, a battery compartment, an indicator light and a power switch — held gently in place by a custom bandage. The experience is non-invasive, painless, and radiation-free.
- Continuous temperature & humidity sensing during a 6+ hour wear
- Encrypted upload to a secure, compliant cloud database
- A digital-biomarker model processes the signal
- Elevated readings are flagged for clinical attention
Reading the report
Calm, plain-language results — never a bare number
The in-app report uses word-based tiers rather than an alarming “Level 1,” shows both sides side by side with a trend across readings, and always frames the result as something that complements — never replaces — screening.

Your result, in plain language
A word-based tier such as “Steady,” with “all clear — keep going,” not a bare figure.

The data behind it
Both sides shown side by side, with a clear trend across your previous readings.

A higher reading, calmly
“A small difference to follow up” — next-step guidance, never panic.
